There is a lot of buzz about increasing the twitter followers . People are asking and searching for the ways and means to increase their followers tally. Why it matter so much ? Having more follower (twitter) and fans (facebook) gives the benefit in the same way, help you spread the word. The first thing is  the word  FOLLOWER which appeals more than friends or fans on facebook.People love to tell that X number of people are FOLLOWING me on the twitter. Having more followers  is a sense of credibility and  of well known. But every one should be first aware of the fact that why he need more followers and what he would accomplish from it ? Are the followers should be targeted or just followers you are looking for. You find many twitter profiles which has almost equal equation of following and followers. Which easily shows that this has been developed by famous quote “ Follow me I will follow you back “ . Such numbers do not help in real sense of a follower.  A real follower is one who always looks for what you are tweeting and the best way is to be in the separate twitter list of follower. Celebrities or famous personalities need nothing except of a verified account to have a stream of followers. It is their popularity & craze which force people to be their followers. As we do not have popularity at our back so we need something else to have more followers. This something else includes many things.

First of all you can capture important account on twitter which can helps you generate many followers. Although availability of such accounts is lesser now but still there are such accounts name which can help in growth of followers. After capturing such accounts you just need to be active on twitter. Such accounts can relates to religion, famous sports etc. This idea suits to people who just need followers at their back with healthy ratio of followers to following. It require efforts at the level of searching the account only and rest would be a straight forward thing.

Now come to the people who have something to offer via web like bloggers and want to raise the followers. It is very simple that why such people needs followers. To show their credibility and use the twitter as medium of promotion for their work. A such person, looking for amplifying the followers, should analyze himself that his work is worth offering a twitter profile for following or not. Just close your webpage and reopen it by disguising yourself from author/owner to reader. After going through your work just ask a question , do I want to press the follower button ? if answer is yes then you should make your twitter profile and start looking for the ways for increasing the followers. If you are already having the account and followers then do not commit a mistake which other such people usually do by only tweeting about their works etc. One thing need to be understand that, people followed you, not only for your work but for you also. When you press a follow badge or button on any website is when you like the work on the website and when you have developed a sort of admiration for the person who have created that work. So sometimes we misses that admiration factor while tweeting. Not only tweet about your work but also tweet about yourself. The other thing which I noticed from many accounts that the voice of tweeters are not engaging. They are just tweeting the things which they think followers might find interesting. Increasing the followers is 1st part but to hold them is also part of overall strategy of increasing followers. To engage the followers one need to be asking the questions , obviously the interesting one, Replying to @mentions,and all such things which gives an impression that you are having all these followers in front of you and you are talking to them. You can not expect a follower to keep on following you with your tweets creating monotony.

Now come to the different tools and strategies which can also help you in growth of the followers

• Spread your twitter profile link as much as you can . You can do it by adding twitter profile link in your email signature. Also put the twitter profile link on other social networking accounts and places. Like facebook page etc,.In simple words utilize all the ways which can let more and more people know about your profile.
• Put the twitter follow button at the prominent place at the website. Such prominent place can be at top of right hand side bar. If you already have decent number of followers then also put the follower number button from twittercounter  to encourage more people to follow you.
• Use hashtag while tweeting. Many people search for any topic via hashtags on twitter. By incorporating the hashtag in tweets will gives more chance of exposure to tweet. It’s matter of letting more people know about you on twitter to get the followers.
• Auto send message for thanks when anyone follows you. Follower will get a feeling that you care about him. You can auto send the message to any new follower by using twitterdmer. You can find other tools like that.
• Try to follow the great people of your industry and communicate with them on twitter. In such a way you can get the attention of the leading persons of your industry. If they will Retweet your tweet then you know what it can do for you in terms of followers and popularity.
• Try to schedule your tweet as each follower has its own timing for twitter. To do so you can find many tools like twaitter.
