Its debatable whether .gov or .edu links are quality & authoritative backlinks and Google or other search engines give them more weightage than the other ones . But most of SEO specialists confirms that they do have higher weightage. By visiting any education or government organization website its look difficult or impossible to get the quality backlinks from there. But there is a way. Most of such websites are having blog. And in blog you can comment with your page url to secure the quality backlinks. Keep in mind that comment should not look irrelevant or look like that its only made to manage the backlink because most of comment moderator of such sites are aware of the fact. So 1st read carefully and then post a relevant , interesting comment which can be published.

Now the thing is how to search these .edu & .gov sites for the backlinks. You can do this by using search operator in major search engine like Google. In Google the search term (Yourkeyword+inurl:blog site:.edu) or (YourKeyword+inurl:blog site:.gov) can reveal the .edu & .gov websites having blog related to your niche and here you can comment to get the quality backlinks. You have to replace the word " yourkeyword" with the any keyword of your niche. e.g if your website or blog is about android then replace the yourkeyword with android.
