How to Find Images for Your Blog in flickr

Where to find the free images for the blog is the common question for bloggers. People usually search for the images on Google search and copy and place them on their blog. Most of the blogger are not aware of the fact that they cannot simply copy and paste the images of others. If the image is copyright and not for distribution or alteration or re use then it can cause trouble for you. Although there are very less chances to get penalized as there are millions of web pages and to keep an eye on who has copied the image and to take the action against it is the difficult task. But its always safe and better to not to put the copyright stuff without any permission etc on your webpage.

flickr of yahoo is the rich source of the images and most of the images are free to distribute with creative common license or with some rights . So then why to risk for the copyright or all right reserved images ? Creative Common License is the more flexible than the “ all right reserved” . With creative common author allow the people to use Its work but with some rights reserved. These rights are defined as license  and very easy to understand. Each license is  associated with a visual symbol.

Now how to search such images in the flickr ?

1. Go to flickr advanced search.

2.fill the fields according to the needs of your search.

3.You can find the creative commons at the bottom of the page. Check the box against the “Only search within Creative Commons-licensed content” . Check the box for the commercial use of the image if you are running ads on your blog. Click on the search  and you will get the images with creative common license and which are allowed to be used commercially.

Before using the image check what sort of creative common license it have or in other words what are the rights for using the image. You can find that under “ License” in the right hand bar when you click on  image in flickr.

By clicking on the license or by the visual symbol associated with each license you would come to know what right are reserved for the use of this image or in other words what are the conditions to use the image in the blog.In flickr, Mostly you find images which are free to share but with attribution which means you have to give the credit to the author via link back to the image in your post. That's why most blogger would tell you to add image credits to the source of image in your post.
