1. Decide Niche of Your Blog
Its most most important thing for any person who want to start writing blog. Beginner blogger usually tends to write on every topic its comes across on the web. You cannot write about each topic at the start. Still if you think that you can write the blog on more than one topic, then choose the one topic about which you are 110 % sure that you can write about it and start with it.Just think of the niche or topic on which you can write consistently for one year at least. After learning the art of blogging & other stuff you can take the other topic. Its better to have separate blog for each topic. Why i am insisting one blog for one niche or topic ? because its establish your blog authority for the topic. While deciding the niche you should do some research also that either the topic has growing or declining trend. Try to go for the topics which are trending higher but don't choose the too competitive niche. So in short, deciding the niche is 1st but in a way difficult step. But its far most important too. Just think if a company start building/developing a product and they are not sure what's the product they are developing ?
2. Choose your Domain Name Carefully
So you have decided the niche of the blog, now what should be the domain name ? As i described earlier that most of the people start blogging on free blogging platforms like Blogger etc. So its doesn't matter whether its “blogspot” or “typepad” in your blog name but what's important is your blogname. if you are starting your blog at Blogger with name (blogname.blogspot.com) then the portion blogname is important.Although you are starting blog at free blogging platform but 1st of all you should also try to register blogname as domain.It don't cost much now a days and the greatest benefit is if your blog kick offs you can shift any time to your own domain. Some people suggest that your domain name should in line with your niche and put some important keywords in there but i don't think so.Domain name should be interesting and appealing rather then a combination of keywords. Its not important to put your niche keywords in domain. shoutmeloud.com is a very interesting and eye catchy domain name . The blog is about blogging tips, Wordpress, SEO of blog but there is nothing about niche you can find in the domain name. So try to have the interesting, eye-catching and easy to remember domain name. The other important thing is that domain name acts as a brand name now a days. One have to promote his blog on important social networking sites like twitter, facebook etc. So when you pick your domain name then do some search that's either that name is occupied on twitter, facebook page or not if not then do also register them along with your domain.
3. Choose The Rite Template
Some people donot give it much weightage but its very important to have the rite template for your blog. Template should not only be eye catching but should also be reader friendly. keep in mind while selecting the template, what you are going to write about, what stuff you would like to put on your blog, either you need 2 column and 3 footer template or otherwise. Question yourself while selecting your template. It will help you in selection of blog template . There are thousands of free templates, for different blogging platforms, available over the web. Choose the neat , appealing , with better color scheme and most important the one which best suits your need.One other important thing before uploading your template make sure that template don't contain any spammy material.
4. Create Logo and Favicon for Your Blog
Its not very important part at start but it do help in long run. There are free Logo makers on the web like cooltext.com etc. You can create a basic logo at the start of the blog from there. Blog name and logo acts as brand name in web world. You can use the logo at your blog’s twitter page , facebook pages etc. Same is the case with favicon. its displays in address bar of browser, in the bookmarks, feed of your blog.Its very easy to generate favicon so i do recommend to have it. Although you are beginner blogger with only few good post, but with logo and favicon, reader will gets the impression of a professional blog and reader will revisit your page. If in future you have to apply for the ads like adsense etc then its their condition that website should look professional and don't gives the impression of under construction site.

5. Concentrate More on Writing than Designing your Blog
its very common phenomena for every beginner blogger that's its gives too much time to give different looks to its blog by tweaking the template like tries to change the color scheme, moving the stuff on different place to look for rite combination etc. Its good at start to get familiarize with the platform but too much of it is not good. If you will consume much of the time in designing of blog look then you will not get the much time to write on it and you know blog is primarily for reading. So concentrate more on writing and learning how to write quality post. In my view a blog with poor design and top contents will do well than a blog with good design and poorer content. So that's why its common phrase in blog world that “ Content is King for Blog “ . So how can you avoid the king for doing other stuff.
6.Post Original and Quality Contents
Content is king, so original and quality content are basic parameters for quality of the blog. Now the 1st part of the heading is Original. In Beginning the beginner blogger tends to copy the content. Some times 100 % copy content or sometime part of it. But copy contents will not going to do anything for its blog in terms of quality but it will let search spiders knows that you have copied or duplicate contents on your blog. Search Engines especially the Google or Big G gives you the major chunk of traffic now a days. Search engines have top quality ranking algorithms and they don't let the copy content to be displayed in their search result. So with copy content you are doing nothing but just wasting your time so avoid to copy the content and write original content. The other part is Quality. Only original content will not serve the purpose, quality contents are also needed. Just visit the top blog and learn how they have crafted their post. Think and search about what has not been written in detail and try to write about it as search engines loves the new , original and quality contents. Quality contents cannot be summarize easily but a good post is one which is search engine optimized, written in sections, Interesting to read, good use of image etc.
7. Do Experiments on Test Blog
Experiment is part of beginner blogger. if you are not familiar with the things you will experiment to get the knowledge. Beginner Blogger usually experiments on the original blog but it can lead to difficult situation where your whole blog can get effected.Its better to have the another blog to minimize the risk. If you have started the blogging on free platform then why not get the other one when its free ? just get the other blog and upload the same template to it.Try to experiment more on the test blog rather on original blog. Its also happen to me at start when i experimented on my blog and its crashed. I have to start from the scratch and its takes lots of effort and time to redo. Even professional blogger have the test blogs and they experiment the things (like template, plug in etc ) 1st on test blog and then use the stuff on original blog to minimize the risk factor.
8. Backup Your Blog Regularly
Its also important strategy to have the backup, to restore the blog if its crashed or malfunctioned due to any reason. Keep regular backup of your blog and save it on hard disk of your PC and in your email also.In backing up you should backup your templates, your widgets/plugins and most importantly your posts. When you 1st install or upload any template just go through the template and figure out the things which Template designer hosted on different places. Usually templates have images, other stuff links which are being hosted on free hosting services on account of template designer . Download these images and other stuff and load it on free hosting on your account and get the links from there and replace them in your template. Its also very important part of the blog backup campaign.
9. Do Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for Your Blog
Search Engine Optimization is also key factor for any blog.If you are writing original and quality contents then most of the SEO is being done by you automatically but still there is another things which are important too in terms of SEO. Search Engine Optimization is important to have the traffic and people love to search through search engines and if your blog is not doing well on this front then your web traffic will be as traffic on desert highway. Do the research for keywords for your niche. Do not stuck to one keyword there are number of variants of any keyword with which people search on the web. You can get the idea of such variants of your keywords through keyword research tool (Google Adword keyword tool). Use those keywords in your post title and body of the post. Develop some quality backlinks from good ranking websites. With Quality contents and with some SEO you will soon find your blog starting rank higher in search engines.
10.First Look for the Traffic & then for Making Money from Blog
Do not start looking for the making money blogging at the start because you are not going to get it . It will demoralize you and you will end up in quitting blogging. Every thing require time and effort. Some people just start blogging by thinking its an easy way of online money but sooner they find themselves wrong.1st look for the traffic which is necessary for monetization. Do not think about making money for at least first 6 months and give time to build the traffic. Traffic will only come if you have something good & new to offer to the reader and search engines. I don't know why new bloggers start searching the phrase “ How to Make Money Online “ or “ How to Make Money Blogging “ if you will be successful in maintaining your blog for six months which will includes that your are doing some basic Search Engine Optimization , Learning the Different things for maintaining the blogs, writing original & quality contents then why would you not be able to find the ways to make money later on ?. Its just the Pasting of ads codes in your blog or giving Affiliate links in your blog or any other method. So follow the above things get the traffic, money will be the part of fun.
